# The Six Realms · 六道根性

An advanced layer of the Palm Sutra reads the **Year pillar** palm star as the realm of one’s "past life", which colours innate nature (根性). The twelve palm stars are grouped into the six realms of rebirth. This is one traditional view; schools differ.
