The star of trials and endurance. Life brings obstacles and toil early on, demanding patience and resilience; the suffering is often forged into later depth and strength.

## On each pillar 四柱

### 年柱 Year Pillar — foundation, ancestry & innate nature

Hardship at the root: early years or family circumstances bring toil, and ground must be won by one’s own endurance. Bitterness comes first and sweetness later; what is survived becomes substance.

年柱坐天厄，根基較為勞苦，早年或家境多有磨練，須靠自身堅忍打拼。人生先苦後甘，吃過的苦往往化為日後的厚實與韌性。

### 月柱 Month Pillar — parents, youth & early career

A demanding bond with parents and a hard-pressed household; the young years call for self-reliance or carrying part of the family load. Treat the early weight as training — it builds a capacity peers will lack.

月柱坐天厄，父母緣分較勞、家中早年多辛苦，少年時期須自立或分擔家計。宜把早來的擔子視為練功，日後承受力遠勝同輩。

### 日柱 Day Pillar — the self, marriage & mid-life

Toil falls on the self or the spouse; the marriage is one that must weather hardship together, with a testing stretch in mid-life. Endured side by side, the bond comes out stronger.

日柱坐天厄，自身或配偶勞碌，婚姻須共患難、忌互相埋怨，中年多有一段考驗期。宜同心度過，熬過之後感情反更牢。

### 時柱 Hour Pillar — children, old age & later fortune

Raising children takes more out of one than most; later years need slack rather than doing everything oneself. Old age rests on what was set aside early — save health and means in good time.

時柱坐天厄，子女養育較費心力，晚年宜留餘裕、勿凡事親力親為。晚境須靠早年積累，儲蓄與健康都要提前預備。
