The star of solitude. Independent, self-contained and somewhat aloof, walking a lonelier path; suits spiritual, artistic or specialised work where solitude becomes a source of strength.

**General tendency:** solitary and independent — aloof, suited to spiritual or specialised paths.

## On each pillar 四柱

### 年柱 Year Pillar — foundation, ancestry & innate nature

### 月柱 Month Pillar — parents, youth & early career

A thin or distant bond with parents; an inward youth with few close friends. Build a skill and a tolerance for one’s own company early — the solitude converts into focus.

月柱坐天孤，與父母緣分較淡或聚少，少年時期偏內向、朋友不多。宜早養一技與獨處的能力，孤反成專注的本錢。

### 日柱 Day Pillar — the self, marriage & mid-life

A self that keeps its own counsel; marriage comes late or is often apart, and mid-life asks one to sit with loneliness. Look for a companion of the same mind — quality, not company.

日柱坐天孤，自身清高自處，婚姻較晚成或聚少離多，中年須耐得住寂寞。宜找志同道合之伴，貴精不貴多。

### 時柱 Hour Pillar — children, old age & later fortune

A thin bond with children, or children who go far; a quiet, undisturbed old age. Cultivate interests and faith early, and the solitude becomes ease rather than absence.

時柱坐天孤，子女緣較薄或各自遠行，晚年清淨少擾。宜及早培養興趣與信仰，把孤獨過成自在。
