# Zodiac Marriage Compatibility · 生肖合婚

Traditional 生肖合婚 reads the relationship between two people’s zodiac branches. The main relationships, from best to most challenging:

- **Six Harmony (六合・天作之合)** — a Six Harmony pair — the most harmonious match, complementary and deeply understanding.
- **Three Harmony (三合・相生相助)** — a Three Harmony (trine) pair — mutually supportive and in tune, a very good match.
- **Clash (六沖・相沖)** — a Clash pair — quite different in temperament and pace, prone to friction; needs patience and communication.
- **Punishment (相刑)** — a Punishment pair — grievances can build up; understanding and letting go help.
- **Harm (六害・相害)** — a Harm pair — hidden strain or misunderstanding can arise; honesty and trust are key.
- **Same Sign (同生肖)** — the same sign — similar and easy to understand, though sometimes lacking complementary spark; keep some space.
- **Neutral (平・普通)** — no special harmony or clash — a neutral match whose quality depends mostly on how you treat each other.

## The branch relationships

- **六合 Six Harmony:** 子丑、寅亥、卯戌、辰酉、巳申、午未.
- **三合 Three Harmony (trine):** 申子辰、寅午戌、巳酉丑、亥卯未.
- **六沖 Clash:** 子午、丑未、寅申、卯酉、辰戌、巳亥.
- **六害 Harm:** 子未、丑午、寅巳、卯辰、申亥、酉戌.
- **相刑 Punishment:** e.g. 子卯, 寅巳申, 丑戌未, and the self-punishing 辰午酉亥.
